My Tivo HD is now all setup. The M-Card is installed, and I can get all the channels I got with my Comcast box. My Comcast experience was great. I was expecting the worst due to my own past experience as well as some of my friend’s. There was no problem getting the Cable Card, they came with the right card, set it up and left to go and call and get it activated. An hour and a half later he called me and told me it was done. My only remaining tasks were to redo Guided Setup and reboot the Tivo.

This thing is great! TivoToGo works just like I hoped it would (although rebooting the Tivo while you’re copying a show over is not recommended). With my other Tivos being a Series 1 and a Series 2, I hadn’t been able to use multi-room viewing before either. That’s a pretty nice feature.

This is a screenshot from today’s Conference USA finals game on CBS. I captured it using my antenna because my cable card wasn’t setup yet. I’m looking forward to trying to convert this to a DVD to see how it looks.

The Tivo HD came in today. My wonderful wife agreed to let me get lifetime service on it, something I’ve regretted not getting with my two other Tivos. I’ve paid the equivalent of a couple lifetime payments with the monthly amounts I’ve paid since 2000.

Setup was a breeze once I found my Tivo Wireless adapter. The one problem I have, is that it’s too easy to go back menus when I’m entering my wireless information. Other than that, there weren’t any problems. My wireless network was detected perfectly, and Tivo connected. I wish the options for video resolutions was a part of guided setup. I don’t mind digging through all the options, but how many people set up HD Tivos without setting the resolutions to match their TVs?

So far I don’t have much to test my Tivo with. My Cable Cards should be installed Saturday, assuming Comcast comes when they’re supposed to. I tried scanning the cable channels, but I don’t want to spend hours finding the unencrypted channels, so I’m waiting on Comcast.
