About

Bio
I’m Jeremy, an almost 30 year old geek. I’ve been interested in computers since I got my hands on the Apple ][e and TI computers we had in elementary school. Nothing was better to me than Montezuma’s Revenge and Oregon Trail. In high school I got active in local bulletin boards, and dialed in to them until I got on the net in 96 when I started college.

Since 2006 I’ve been married to the love of my life. We currently live in Memphis, TN, where I work at The University of Memphis and my wife is about to receive her Ph.D. Later this fall we’re going to be moving for her to have a postdoc position, but the location is unknown right now. We’re both avid fans of the Memphis Tigers, and have followed them all the way to San Antonio this April. That trip didn’t end the way we hoped, but it was still a fun time. Leaving Memphis is going to be tough for me. My earliest sports memories were of Andre Turner and the 84-85 Tiger team.

I enjoy good coffee, and never turn down a cup of Kona. I drink Starbucks out of convenience, but find their drip coffee bitter. Usually I’ll just get a grande mocha and keep it simple. At home I have good coffee on the weekends when I can spend time to grind my own beans, and use a Senseo machine when I have time in the mornings, unless I’m craving that mocha.

I also enjoy various comics, cartoons, and toys from my childhood. Now that I have disposable income, and due to the resurgence of 80s icons like the Transformers, I’ve been able to rediscover characters I’ve loved, and actually buy the toys that I was never allowed to get as a kid.

About this blog
This site has been various forms of my blog over the years. I’m more consistent blogging on my livejournal, but most of the recent entries are friends only (and even then, “consistent” is a loose term). I am trying to discipline myself to blog more and improve my writing skills.  I’m going to write on more technical topics here than on livejournal, but some personal entries will probably slip through as well.
