008 – Batman v Superman, Too fast, Too Furious

Join me in this episode as I give my thoughts on the first Batman V Superman trailer and lay out my thoughts on what Warner Bros. could do to improve the coming DC Cinematic Universe. I also talk a bit about the Flash / Arrow crossover.

  1. I do not know why DC just does not embrace their past movies? In the 80’s and 90’s, if you were to see a Super Hero movie it was a DC Property. The Marvel movies were more or less a joke (minus Howard the Duck) Hollywood these days seems to be all about reboots and re-imaging.

An example of this would be Superman Returns. Here is a movie that was not a direct sequel to the Christopher Reeve movies but had enough touch stones to know it is within the same universe. Next comes Man of Steel that is trying to replicate the darker tone of Nolan Batman films which just set the film up for failure.

I am sad to see that dark tone appears to be the basis of the DCU. I am a Batman fan but I have always seen Batman as Dark (even the 1966 TV Show) and Superman as the LIght. I know I cannot be the only one that thinks this but I’m am hoping that Batman v Superman does not require a reading light to view the movie in the theatre and I have not been impressed with what I have seen to this day.

  2. I have yet to watch the Superman : Man of Steel movie. So I not in a big hype/rush about the Batman V Superman . I have watched ALOT of the Animated movies that have been released and really like them I have even gotten to read the Batman Dark Knight Returns books and really love those.

I totally agree with your outlook on the Marvel and DC movies. Marvel has done their movie verse style to a extreme degree and that is what makes them so much better right now. That and the marketing. Though I haven’t seen a bunch sadly. Yes I know it is bad. I have yet to watch Iron Man 3 , Thor 2 , Avengers 2 , Antman ,and both the Amazing Spiderman movies. But I have watched the Dark Knight trilogy and the original Batman and Superman films. I know I have some major catching up to do.

I am also happy to report as of today I have watched the first 5 episodes of Gotham. And I am really liking it so far. I was really surprised about Jada Picket Smith being in it. I never realized that she was in it at all. I am also really liking the cast so far. Especially Penguin. I am looking forward to watching the rest soon. I am watching it with my cousin and will only be able to watch some episodes once a week.
